OMII-UK Beta Tester Programme
The goal of this programme is to benefit users of OMII-UK software who are interested in getting hold of new releases early (e.g. to allow them to develop other software which uses OMII-UK components). We expect beta testers to:
- be users of OMII-UK software who have become known to us, either through direct contact, or by being regular posters on mailing lists, discussion forums or active developers/contributors to the repository/release.
- agree that the code they receive should not be used or advertised as release quality code
- agree to provide feedback directly and in a timely fashion within the beta testing period
In return, beta testers receive:
- early access to OMII-UK component code, documentation and training materials
- priority support during the beta testing period
- a dedicated discussion forum and/or mailing list and/or wiki
- credit in the documentation for the component, and on the website
- consultation on the development of, and early access to the OMII-UK roadmaps
Beta testers may nominate themselves, or be recommended by members of OMII-UK staff. The Operations committee will approve the nominations. It is expected that this programme will be inclusive rather than exclusive.
Beta testers will generally keep their status until the relevant component is released. It is expected that they will be asked whether they wish to participate in future beta test programmes when these occur if development of ‘their’ component is required. If no feedback is provided on two consecutive releases then the beta tester will be de-selected.
